+ Why does my hard drive still spin when connected to the hub after my computer

Why does my hard drive still spin when connected to the hub after my computer is turned off?

Some hard drives will remain active even without a signal from the computer. Whether your hard drive will do this or not depends on the manufacturer and design of your drive.

We suggest unplugging the power adapter of both the hub and the hard drive to ensure the hard drive shuts down.

+ Why is the transfer rate so much slower than the 5Gbps promoted?

The USB 3.0 transfer rate is 5Gbps and has a theoretical transfer speed of 500MB/s which is about 8 times faster than the USB 2.0 transfer rate of 480Mb/s with theoretical transfer speed of 60MB/s.
There are numerous variables that will affect USB transfer rate including data source and destination and file type. With all reasonable usage environments taken into account USB 3.0 can achieve average transfer speeds about 3 times faster than that of USB 2.0.

+ Do you have any driver for the hub?

Our cateck Hubs are plug-and-play so there's no need for extra drivers, but we do recommend updating your USB controller’s drivers and firmware to the latest version. This ensures a smooth experience using any USB devices. To do this you should identify the brand of your USB controller then search online, or contact your PC/motherboard supplier directly.

+ Why does Apple SuperDrive not work with your Cateck hub?

Apple have addressed this issue and said that SuperDrive is only designed to work with USB ports on selected Apple computers. It is not recommended for use with USB hubs. (See Apple support article http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2801)

+ When my hub is connected through the ports on my Apple expansion card

When my hub is connected through the ports on my Apple expansion card it fails to be recognised, why is this?
Mac expansion cards don’t tend to support non-storage devices (more info is available from your expansion card manufacturer's websites). It is recommended that you plug hubs into the Mac’s built in USB ports.

+ Devices are not being identified by my computer when connected to the USB hub

Devices are not being identified by my computer when connected to the USB hub, but they are being identified when connected directly to the computer. Why?
This problem may be the result of one of the following:
a. Insufficient power supply. Please connect the USB hub to a power source.
b. Compatibility issues between the motherboard and system. Please try refreshing the BIOS in the motherboard.
c. Incorrect insertion or unplugging. Do not unplug the device when transferring data in order to avoid damaging the chipset.
d. Improper driver installation. Under “Device Manager”, go to “Other Devices” and select “Universal Serial Bus Controllers”. If there are any yellow question or exclamation marks visible, uninstall the driver in “Device Manager”, then restart your computer. The driver will be reinstalled automatically.

+ Why is my computer unable to boot when the hub is plugged in?

1. Please check if the hub works as normal if you plug it into your PC after the PC has already completed its start up.

2. Please unplug the AC adapter from the hub and see if the PC will start up with the hub plugged in. If this solves the problem then the issue is with the hub. Please feel free to contact our support team for an exchange or refund. If it does not help, Please attempt the further troubleshooting below:

a. The computer can’t start because it can’t read system files. This occurs when the BIOS is set to “Start the Computer from the USB Device”. In order to solve this, change the setting to “Start the Computer from the Hard disk”.

b. Check the USB 3.0 host and make sure its drivers are up to date.

c. Try a different USB 3.0 cable/usb port.
